Tartarus
A manifestation of the lowest place for the Gods, below Hades, where Zeus imprisoned the Titans.
Here a South American guerrilla fixes a sinister stare from the jungle, while in the lower corner, a male drug-addicted prostitute is in juxtaposition with a religious zealot with blood on his hands.
Hypocrisy was a punishable offence in ancient Greece, but is a main staple of today’s politics and is present in all modern 'diplomacy' today (notably as governments deal with the international drug and sex trades).
Apathy and zealotry are both culpable in the torments of the other, and are part of an ephemeral cycle that is as consistent as the seasons.
The drying, coloured leaves in Tartarus' hair are being consumed by the fire that eats away the esteem and motivation gained from narcotics and prostitution, and consumes youth everywhere around the world today, including in remote societies, where aboriginal people seem most vulnerable.
